What is Express Entry Program?
Express Entry program is an online portal for skilled worker’s selection under Permanent Residency (PR) status in Canada. It is the fastest mode of attaining the PR status as the screening time is only 6 to 12 months. There are three streams through which the applicant can relocate –
Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP)
Federal Skilled Traders Program (FSTP)
Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP) stream is for those applicants who have never lived in Canada before. This is also called the 67-point calculator because it is a point-based selection system where the candidates who achieve 67 points out of 100 are selected under the program. Next, the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) is for applicants who are in the trade occupation, such as Truck drivers and cooks, and finally, the last stream Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is for applicants who have already lived in Canada and have work experience of Canadian occupation.
Express Entry Draws
The point-based selection of the applicants happens as per the draws. The IRCC conducts the Express entry draws after every 15 days. In this program, every individual’s comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score is judged against the average comprehensive ranking system score required by the ITRCC for shortlisting the applicants. All those candidates who meet this benchmark score of selection are provided the Invitation to Apply (ITA). This needs to be responded to with documents in 60 days to help the applicants received the PR status.
How are the comprehensive ranking system (CRS) scores calculated?
The comprehensive ranking system score is calculated out of 1200, and three factors are considered for score calculation-
Human Core Capital (Age, Language score, Education, Work experience and Adaptability)
Skill Transferability
Bonus points
The calculation is as per the following-
Human Core Capital (500) + Skill Transferability (100) + Bonus Points (600) = 1200
Human Core Capital
It is the calculation of score as per the personal credential of the applicant based on Age, Language score, Education, Work experience, and Adaptability. If the applicant is immigrating alone, then the points are calculated out of 500 points. For those who are married or are immigrating with a spouse, their score is calculated as 460 + 40. The 40-point calculation is as per spouse language, education, and work experience calculation.
